empowering teachers, inspiring students

Aubrey
Faith-Slaker

Aubrey Faith-Slaker is an accomplished pianist and devoted music educator, inspiring teachers and students online and in the Chicagoland area, with frequent work in Oaxaca, Mexico.

Pianist

Aubrey's musical journey began at the age of four when she embarked on her Suzuki piano studies at the Music Institute of Chicago, inspired by her role as the eldest of six musically-inclined siblings. She holds two Bachelor of Music degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, specializing in piano performance and piano pedagogy. Aubrey furthered her studies at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, earning a Master of Music degree in Performance and Pedagogy (studying on the unusual 7/8 sized keyboard). Enjoying a versatile repertoire, Aubrey is a frequent performer of solo and chamber music, with a particular affinity for the works of Beethoven, Debussy, and female composers.

Teacher Trainer

With over two decades of experience, Aubrey is an MTNA-certified music educator and a Suzuki Piano Teacher Trainer. Her journey as a trainer began when she was invited to Guanajuato and Peru to train with master teacher trainer Caroline Fraser, who encouraged her to pursue a career in teacher training. Passionate about empowering new teachers, she offers compassionate mentorship in piano pedagogy, guiding individuals pursuing further education and supporting those starting their own teaching journeys. Aubrey's intuitive teaching extends to masterclasses, where she shares her expertise and nurtures the development of aspiring educators. For Teacher Training opportunities click here

studio instructor

Aubrey maintains a nurturing piano studio, offering comprehensive instruction in piano, music history, music theory, and piano pedagogy to students of all ages. Her teaching journey spans Texas, Wyoming, Colorado, Oaxaca, and now Chicago. Aubrey teaches both in-person and online, providing lessons in English and Spanish. Moving to Oaxaca and introducing the Suzuki method to families within a different cultural context around education and child-raising challenged her to adapt and refine her teaching approach, ultimately enriching her understanding of her own values, abilities, and interests. Beyond her private studio, she shares her passion for music as a faculty member at the Music Institute of Chicago, fostering a lifelong love of music in her students.
